No, it’s not our birthday.
No, our revenues haven’t broken 6 figures (that happened a long time ago).
It could be because an internal client survey showed an approval rating of 97.2% amongst first-time clients but it’s not.
No, we’re happy because after Italy’s Ferragosto holiday, we’re back.
Recharged.
Reinvigorated.
Revamped.
Seasonally, there are financial statements to translate, catalogues, brochures, as well as working with the “early birds” who are already thinking of Christmas and 2009. In addition to this, we’ve made some big changes internally.
Recycling, always something very important to us, has become a corporate priority.
Our logo’s red but our thoughts are green. Every piece of paper is reused, and I mean every piece (as note paper, for example) before being recycled. Water, especially hot water, is further conserved by various means. The air-conditioning’s off for half the day. And in winter the heating will be turned down: why come to work in a sweater and coat to take them both off in the office? We’ve decided we can work just as well with our sweaters on.
We’ve spoken to our major clients about our policy and they are overwhelmingly supportive. We’ve drastically reduced the amount of paper we send (invoices, brochures, marketing material, etc) and now send PDF documents as email attachments. Machines are being phased out in favour of ultra-high efficiency models.
Lots of little things which together make a big impact.
It took a little practice but internal “competitions” (who could save the most, for example, or who could print the least) really worked and now it’s just part of every day life. And we’re seeing cost savings. So not only are we helping the planet we’re saving money.
If you’d like to know more about what we’ve done to conserve resources, write to us and we’ll send you our free “This is how we did it…” pamphlet.
Now, where are those financial statements…?
